Marcy Yellin of Music with Marcy leads this perfect afternoon music class. Accompanied by the magical sounds of Marcy's guitar, children sing and play with musical instruments, scarves, sticks, bubbles and the parachute. Through music, children learn rhythm, listening skills, language and counting as well as strengthen their dancing muscles! This laid back class will get you through the witching hour as children are mesmerized by Marcy's voice and guitar. Come join us for some fun with rhythm and learning!!
In this first music class, we introduce babies to class structure, learn new songs, and make new friends. The instructor will lead babies and caregivers in songs, gentle movements, stories, bubbles & baby-friendly play. A laid-back group intended to socialize and entertain babies as well as their adults! Bring a coffee (or let us make you some), and come ready to sing and play!
We are thrilled to Wiggles & Giggles join us at Marblehead Parenting! These classes are adored by children and families all over the North Shore and incorporate a number of themes and activities through songs, parachute play, puppets, finger play, and games that develop both fine and gross motor skills. The kids have fun, while they learn and play. With the focus on having fun, Wiggles & Giggles is the kind of high-energy entertainment that children—and parents—love.
In our beginning art class, we believe in process over product and encourage little ones to express their creativity with a variety of mediums. Toddlers will be able to explore texture and color as they fine-tune their fine motor skills by manipulating brushes, rollers, stampers, clay & dough. We have a different theme each week that ties our art projects together such as Zoom to the Moon, A Day at the Beach, Down on the Farm, and seasonal crafts for Snow Days and Valentine's Day. Art is essential for our little ones to develop creativity and self-expression, but leave the clean up to us!
35 minutes of free art play - We have 3-4 different art stations set up for children to freely explore.
Light clean up - All of our classes teach that when we are done playing, we clean up. Children help us by putting art tools in clean up bins and washing their hands.
A short lesson with songs and story to tie in the weekly theme.
Art has countless benefits for our children's development.
In the earliest ages, manipulating different textures with their hands through sensory play strengthens cognitive development, helps with children's ability to self-regulate and can even discourage "picky eaters"
Motor skills - grasping that paintbrush and gliding it on the paper, rolling the dough, picking up small pompoms between finger and thumb and gluing it on with their other hand helps develope coordination and strengthens fine motor skills.
Language - what better way to learn new words than have your child explain their art to you? Talk about the colors of the paint, describe the feeling of the materials with words like sticky, bumpy, & smooth.
Social development - almost all of our art stations are "work together" stations. Our children learn by doing and the most difficult lesson of all - how to share - is no exception.
Self-awareness & confidence - With our take-home projects, children can bring their art home to parents and show them what they created with their own hands! They learn that they have an impact on their world and they can create whatever they want!
