Baby Massage & Garden Group
New parents, start the week in the shade of the organic Lee Mansion gardens. This 6 week class will start with 3 weeks of learning infant massage techniques followed by 3 weeks of learning about your baby's development.
When: Mondays at 9:00, July 15 - August 19
Where: Lee Mansion Gardens (weather permitting) 161 Washington Street, Marblehead. On rainy days, we will meet in our studio at 237 Washington Street, Marblehead.
Infant massage is beneficial for both the child and caregiver. Research studies have shown many positive short term, and long term benefits, of nurturing touch and infant massage such as improved sleep, digestion, increased bonding, and aiding in neurological development. By the end of the 3 weeks you will learn how to use nurturing touch and full body massage on your child. During the one hour class you will practice massage techniques either on your child or a doll/teddy bear, as well as have time for questions and discussion of relevant parenting topics. Each week you will be provided with an oil and a detailed take-home handout so you can practice at home.
Infant Development will discuss all those early milestones and challenges. This portion of the class will follow our baby group format - open forum for questions and plenty of space to vent. Diana will come prepared with topics relevant to the group and hold space for parents to commune with their babies and each other.
Lindsey Kravitz is a Certified Infant Massage Teacher (CIMT) and a parent educator who teaches the healing art of infant massage to parents or caregivers in the presence of their babies.
Diana Aniello is a Child Development specialist and local mom of 3 boys. She teaches baby groups and finds joy in helping parents through the earliest months of parenting.
